January 19, 2017 Update

Heavy gusts of winds knocked down power poles and power lines Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, resulting in extensive power outages and hazardous situations throughout the Sacramento region. Here's what to do if you encounter downed power lines.

Information for patients who rely on electric or battery-powered medical equipment in their homes:

  • Patients who are currently without power and rely on electric or battery-powered medical equipment should consider, if it's possible to do so safely, moving to a family member or friend's home who is still in power as it is difficult to provide accurate restoration estimates at this time.
  • Patients should also begin communicating their needs to health system contacts now and plan for assistance should an emergency situation develop.
  • If a patient finds themselves in an emergency situation of any kind, they should call 911.
